Scholarships and Grants
The International University of Barbados – School of Medicine (IUB) offers qualified students a variety of scholarship opportunities that reward academic excellence, commitment to community service, and professional experience in the medical field. Academic scholarships are awarded to new, incoming students only and apply to the Basic Science semesters of the MD program. Scholarships are competitive and limited, so early application is strongly encouraged.

Outstanding Academic Excellence Scholarship
Award: $2,000 per semester (all Basic Sciences semesters)
Eligibility:

Undergraduate GPA of 3.7 or higher
-
Possess a U.S. equivalent bachelor’s degree
-
Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and a 3.0 GPA each semester
Academic Excellence Scholarship
Award: Up to $1,500 per semester (all Basic Sciences semesters)
Eligibility:

Undergraduate GPA of 3.3 or higher

Possess a U.S. equivalent bachelor’s degree

Must maintain SAP and a 3.0 GPA each semester
MCAT Scholarship
Award: Determined case-by-case
Eligibility:

Submit official MCAT scores

Based on financial need and commitment to completing the program

Must maintain SAP and a 3.0 GPA each semester
U.S. Military Veterans Scholarship
Award: $500 per semester (Basic Sciences only)
Eligibility:

Must have served in the U.S. Armed Forces with honorable discharge or be currently serving

Medical Professional Recognition Scholarship
Award: $500 per semester (Basic Sciences only)
Eligibility:

Must be a certified EMT, Paramedic, LVN, or RN in the U.S. or Canada

Provide proof of current certification/licensure

Barbadian Tuition Scholarship
Award:

One full-tuition scholarship per semester (first-come, first-served)

Other Barbadian citizens enrolled in the MD program may qualify for a 50% tuition reduction

CARICOM Tuition Reduction Scholarship
Award: 50% tuition reduction for:

Must be a citizen of a CARICOM member or associate state

Have not taken college-level coursework in the U.S. or Canada

African Student Tuition Reduction Scholarship
Award: Tuition reduction for:

4 semesters of the Pre-Medical Program OR

MS1 to MS4

NEET Scholarship (India)
Award:

Students scoring above 475-500 in NEET may receive a $500 discount on the Non-Refundable Seat Deposit
Eligibility: -
Minimum 75% in 12th grade

Adherence to 80% attendance and academic rules as per the Student Handbook

Failing subjects or delinquent accounts will result in loss of scholarship
