The B.Sc Medical Imaging Technology (BMIT) at International University of Barbados is a premier 4-year Allied Health degree (consisting of 6 academic semesters followed by a 1-year clinical hospital internship) designed to educate highly skilled diagnostic radiographers, CT/MRI technologist specialists, and medical imaging experts.

Radiological imaging is the cornerstone of modern non-invasive clinical diagnosis. From detecting bone fractures and soft tissue trauma to multi-slice CT angiography and high-field 3T MRI brain scans, imaging technologists operate cutting-edge medical equipment. Our BMIT program provides thorough grounding in radiation physics, cross-sectional anatomy, PACS digital radiography, and contrast media procedures.

Students gain extensive practical experience operating digital X-ray suites, multi-detector CT scanners, 1.5T/3T MRI machines, ultrasound Doppler equipment, and PACS image processing workstations in affiliated hospital radiology departments.

Admission & Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the B.Sc Medical Imaging Technology (BMIT) program at International University of Barbados must fulfill the following criteria:

Higher Secondary (10+2) Qualification

Successful completion of 12th Grade / Senior Secondary School / High School Diploma with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics (PCB/PCM) as core subjects.

Minimum Academic Percentage

Minimum aggregate of 50% marks in PCB/PCM subjects (45% for reserved category applicants) from a recognized educational board.

English Proficiency

Proficiency in spoken and written English. Non-English medium candidates may submit IELTS (min 6.0), TOEFL, or equivalent English certification.
