Advanced Clinical Medicine & Physician Assistant Sciences Masters Program Notice: The MSc Physician Assistant Technology at International University of Barbados is an advanced postgraduate program designed for BSc PA Technology and allied health graduates seeking advanced clinical medicine competencies in diagnosis, patient management, minor procedures, clinical specialties, and healthcare leadership. Graduates practice under physician supervision across primary, secondary, and specialized care settings globally.
Program Overview
The MSc Physician Assistant Technology at International University of Barbados is a 2-year advanced postgraduate program that elevates healthcare practitioners to a near-physician clinical competency level. The MSc PA Technology builds upon foundational BSc training to develop advanced diagnostic, therapeutic, and patient management skills across internal medicine, surgery, emergency medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics, and psychiatry — practiced under the collaborative supervision of licensed physicians.
Students develop advanced proficiency in clinical history-taking, physical examination, differential diagnosis, advanced pharmacotherapy, clinical procedures (suturing, phlebotomy, intubation, lumbar puncture, joint aspiration), point-of-care diagnostics, patient-centered care planning, interprofessional collaboration, and advanced clinical research. The program bridges the gap between allied health and advanced clinical medicine.
Clinical rotations across internal medicine, surgery, emergency, pediatrics, psychiatry, family medicine, and women's health departments in affiliated teaching hospitals provide comprehensive, specialty-specific patient care exposure.
