The Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) at International University of Barbados is a premier 6-year professional clinical doctorate designed to produce clinical pharmacy specialists who work directly alongside physicians in hospital wards and critical care units.
Unlike traditional laboratory-focused pharmacy degrees, the Pharm.D curriculum focuses on patient-centered therapeutic care, analyzing complex multi-drug regimens, renal dosage adjustments, pediatric pharmacology, and oncology supportive care.
The final year consists of a 12-month full-time clinical residency in affiliated teaching hospitals, providing hands-on experience in emergency medicine, cardiology ICUs, infectious disease wards, and clinical trials.
